Today is an important day for Northern Ireland. For the past
seven years, researchers in our two universities have been working
hard to push Northern Ireland to the forefront of knowledge and
achievement.
Many millions of pounds have been invested in strengthening our
research capability in the sciences, the arts and the humanities.
And today, they will discover how they have performed in relation
to their peers in universities throughout the UK, as the results of
the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) are published.
