The Charleston Civic Center has been a home away from home for
the two-time defending Class AA state champion Summers County girls
basketball team.
On Wednesday, Summers made its first trip back to the Civic
Center since a victory over Lincoln in the title game last March.
The Bobcats were minus state player of the year Jolyssa Brown, who
competes at Concord. But senior Emily Blevins proved she is more
than able to fill the void.
Blevins racked up 16 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks as
Summers County defeated Musselman 60-30 in the Hoops Classic.
"Emily is our leader," said Summers County coach Wayne Ryan. "She
has been preparing for this role for a long time. She accepts her
