CANTON - The Blue Hills Ski Area has had its challenges over the
years, but a winter recession apparently isn't one of them.
The ski area's operators wasted no time this season, opening two
weeks earlier than usual.
In its second year under Ski Blue Hills Management LLC, the
Canton ski area has increased its snow making capacity by 40
percent, adding more snowmaking guns, a snow-grooming machine and
restoring water pipes for the snowmaking guns.
"We're not dependent on natural snow," said Jennifer Heinen, the
ski area's manager.
Ski Blue Hills spent $300,000 on renovations last fall and
