Judge lets teacher's second suit proceed

A federal judge has excised several counts from a Howard County teacher's second lawsuit, but allowed her to proceed with retaliation claims against the board of education. Michelle Maupin, who won $237,000 last year on allegations of racial discrimination at Centennial High School, filed the second action in August claiming she was transferred, harassed, denied several weeks of pay and otherwise punished for filing the first lawsuit. Maupin, who was moved to Wilde Lake High School while the first case was pending, also claims she was escorted from school premises and put on administrative leave on Sept. 25, shortly after she served the defendants ...
