Los Angeles launches second "Day Without A Bag"

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- The city of Los Angeles and environmental groups jointly launched the second annual "Day Without A Bag" on Thursday in a bid to raise the awareness of environmental protection.

As part of the campaign, tens of thousands of reusable shopping bags will be handed out in an effort to persuade shoppers to give up disposable plastic bags.

The environmental organization Heal the Bay introduced "A Day Without A Bag" to Los Angeles County last year with its short-term goal to educate shoppers to adopt more sustainable practices during the holidays and coming year.
