Allergies and Asthma- an Epidemic of the 21st Century

The annual death rate per 100,000 persons with asthma aged 5 to 34 years is more than 250,000 people worldwide, revealed the world's top allergy expert (sourced- State of the World Allergy Report 2008).

According to Prof. Ruby Pawankar, MD, PhD, and treasurer of the World Allergy Organization, the prevalence of asthma has increased markedly worldwide in recent decades and continues to increase, even in countries that have been relatively unaffected by the disease in the past.
