ExxonMobil Corp. trusted the line leak detector installed at the
Jacksonville site of a massive gas leak in 2006 even as it was
replacing that model with upgraded detectors across the nation, a
company official testified Tuesday.
"We were confident in the protection the system provided," said
John R. Greco during his second day on the witness stand in
Baltimore County Circuit Court. "Both pieces of equipment work
equally well."
Greco, now U.S. construction manager for Exxon, was overseeing
detector upgrades in January 2006 when more than 25,000 gallons of
gasoline leaked from a damaged line at the Jacksonville station.
