The most celebrated partition in India Inc in 2005 was a classic
case of the pitfalls of not having a succession plan in place.
Dhirubhai Ambani, founder of the Reliance Group, did not leave a
will bequeathing control of the empire.
After Dhirubhai's funeral, neither was it a happy family, nor a
happy business,noted India Today in April 2005, as Kokilaben found
herself in the thick of a battle between Mukesh and Anil over
ownership and control of Reliance Industries.
The dust then settled with Mukesh taking control of Reliance
Industries and Anil, Reliance Infocomm, but the brothers continue to
spar on other business matters.
