As it moves into the new year, Wisconsin State Fair Park faces an
uncertain future. Director Randy Prasse, who was making progress,
has announced his resignation after a power struggle with the board.
The investor group now promoting events at the Milwaukee Mile plans
to get out of the business by December 2010.
What's needed in a new director is someone who can provide a sure
hand at the wheel, someone with a track record of successfully
managing such a venue. This is no time for amateurs.
The board should conduct a national search for the right person
to guide the fair park in the right direction. The board also needs
to resolve any internal differences to make sure that it sets the
