Article: Forestry commission sends team to Germany to tackle wild boar

With wild boar on the rampage in the Forest of Dean the Forestry Commission has sent a team to Germany to see how they cope with the beasts.

After a series of incidents including damage to football pitches and an incident at Ruardean Primary School, when a boar had to be shot dead after it became aggressive, rangers have gone on a fact- finding mission to learn how to cope with the Forest's growing population of wild boar.

A spokesman said: "It is sensible to look at those places where they are already having to tackle this issue.

"The problem is significant in Germany and there are places such as the Czech Republic and Sweden where numbers have grown very rapidly from nothing."
