Gavin Caines is desperate for a chance to prove himself on the
field to Cheltenham Town manager Martin Allen.
The 25-year-old defender will be handed his first start since
October 25 in today's big FA Cup third round tie against Doncaster
Rovers if Darren Kenton has not recovered from flu in time to play.
Former Walsall trainee Caines almost joined Blue Square Premier
club Forest Green on loan in October, but decided to remain at
Whaddon Road and fight for a place, despite being transfer listed.
"No disrespect to Forest Green, but I thought I could play at a
higher level," Caines said. "I wanted to stay in the League and
thought I was better than that.
