Article: Fury at closure of council car park

Carmarthenshire Council was forced to reopen the town centre's multistorey car park after numerous complaints from angry traders and shoppers.

The Murray Street car park was closed yesterday, even though it was a normal working day.

However, traders - who feared a downturn in business - and shoppers who contacted the council's call centre said they were told January 2 was a statutory holiday for council workers.

As a result, visitors to the town centre car park had to reverse down the ramp.
