Article: Kanawha sheriff anticipates office move: ; AEP's old Va. St. home also will house offices for county prosecutor

The Kanawha County Sheriff's Department will move into a new home at the recently donated American Electric Power building on Virginia Street as early as December of 2009.

"I almost hate to make predictions with these sorts of thing because renovations always take longer than new construction, but I think if we get some good bids and start work by April or May, then it should only be seven to nine months before they can move in," said Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper.

The building, which was given to the county in August, will house the prosecuting attorney's office as well as the sheriff's department.
