Union Station, just south of downtown Oklahoma City, is a part of the city's history and is slated to be an integral part of its future.

The 55,000-square-foot station opened on July 15, 1931, and served the Frisco and Rock Island railroads connecting Oklahoma City to both coasts and many cities in between, via railway.

An account from the Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority shows the station was built for $2 million.

The station has not had passenger rail service since 1967. In 1973, all rail services ceased at the station.
