LOCAL BASEBALL
Baseball has been bringing fathers and sons together for more
than a century, and few have taken the connection as seriously as
the Keefe family of Rockland.
This past August, the three Keefe sons, Jim, 42, John, 40, and
Tom, 45, joined their 70-year-old father Thomas Keefe, and step-
brother Bob Whierling, 40, to go a perfect 10-0 and win the "Legends
of Baseball All-Star Camp" tournament at historic Doubleday Field in
Cooperstown, N.Y., the birthplace of America's pastime.
The team, called the "Massachusetts Red Sox," was no stranger to
the camp, having played there the previous two summers with little
success, never winning more than two games on both occasions.
