HIBS boss Mixu Paatelainen today warned Grzegorz Szamotulski he'll have to fight for his place at Easter Road despite his arrival signalling the end of a year-long search for an experienced goalkeeper.

The former Dundee United star, the latest in a long list of goalkeepers put under the microscope by Paatelainen, has signed a six-month deal after impressing during a lengthy trial period.

But today Paatelainen insisted the 32-year-old Pole would be competing with Yves Ma-Kalambay and Andy McNeil for the gloves rather than being seen as an immediate replacement.

And the Finn claimed the presence of Szamotulski would help the youngsters become better goalkeepers.
