HARRISBURG -- Senate Republicans' legal bills have hit more than
$1 million in the grand jury investigation of legislative
corruption, senators were told in a New Year's Eve memo.
It brings the total amount the House and Senate have spent on
outside counsel to $4.4 million in response to Attorney General Tom
Corbett's investigation of taxpayer-paid bonuses and other state
resources being used for political work.
Senate Majority Leader Domenic Pileggi, R-Delaware County, told
GOP senators that outside lawyers were retained "for the caucus and
some individuals, consistent with Senate policy."
