Throughout her life, Helen Barber Stabile displayed the kind of
tenacity when facing adversity that her ancestors showed when they
settled in Charleston, S.C., in the 1700s and fought in the
Revolutionary War.
"My mother had great respect for her Southern heritage, which was
passed down to her from the Clarksons, who represented the maternal
side of her family," said her son, Merrill Stabile of Shadyside,
president of Alco Parking Corp.
Helen Barber Stabile, formerly of Mt. Lebanon, died on Saturday,
Jan. 3, 2009, in her Vero Beach, Fla., home. She was 77.
