FEARS have been raised over the future of a popular racing
stables' open day in the region, whichmarks its 20th anniversary
this year.
The Middleham Stables Open Event, in Middleham, near Leyburn,
North Yorkshire, will be held on Good Friday, April 10.
Every year, the successful training yards of Middleham are thrown
open to thousands of racing enthusiasts.
But there are fears that this will be the last open day, because
there are plans to introduce racing on Good Friday, next year.
Last year's event raised more than [pounds]10,000 for local
charities.
Trainers say the cancellation of the event, which is sponsored by
The Northern Echo, would be a "desperate blow" for the town.
