Article: THOMAS EUGENE FARMER, 89

Thomas E. Farmer, 89, of Redlands passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, following a long battle with Parkinson's disease, a short hospital stay with strokes, and a lifetime filled with accomplishments, adventure, and fun.

He is survived by his wife, Susanne, a native of Hungary. He was a son of Rev. Thomas E. and Matilda Farmer. He was preceded in death by his brother Lowell and sister Dorothy, all from Milledgeville, GA.

He attended Georgia Military College before joining the National Guard in Fall of 1940 and went into active duty. Gene was ordered to Keesler AFB, Beloxie, MS for pre-flight training. In 1942 he was assigned to Peterson Field, CO where he received his training for flying a ...
