Article: Madison hotel proposal worries project neighbors

Madison's Bay Creek residents do not want a hole in the ground as the only tangible proof they will one day get a hotel in their neighborhood.

If they must wait for a hotel proposal to turn into reality, representatives from the neighborhood near the South Park Street corridor said they would rather stare at the vacant building they now have.

"I haven't heard anybody raise objections to the hotel idea," said Bob Stoffs, a Madison resident and member of the Bay Creek Neighborhood Association. "But the worst-case scenario would be another Hilldale-type hole that just sits in the ground for years."
