As he prepares to begin his second four-year term, Gov. Joe
Manchin is expressing both optimism and concern for the state
economy.
With his inauguration set for Monday, Manchin has three top
priorities: The economy, education and health care.
Manchin, 61, cruised to reelection in November by defeating
Republican challenger Russ Weeks 70 percent to 26 percent.
With the nation in perhaps the toughest economic squeeze since
the Great Depression, Manchin may be in for a ride no other West
Virginia governor has experienced in recent times.
