Article: Oconomowoc-based Wolf Paving Co. says failure of air quality test was bad timing

The day federal regulators tested air quality at Wolf Paving Co. Inc.'s asphalt plant was the same day a seal came loose on a big bag that collects emission dust, according to the company's president.

Devin Wolf said it was just a case of bad timing that led to a complaint from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and a Jan. 5 settlement for $114,740. Company employees, he said, unhooked the bag to test it the day before federal inspectors visited the Oconomowoc-based company's Genesee asphalt plant on Oct. 13, 2004, for the annual air-quality survey.
