Article: Winifrede boxing club shows fighters the ropes

A well-trained, freshly assembled group of scrappy West Virginia youths scored a knockout accomplishment in the Buckeye State recently.

Thirteen Upper Kanawha Valley area teenagers, members of Winifrede-based Chris's Boxing Club, returned home with a victory plaque from a formidable boxing competition in South Point, Ohio, in December, said club trainer, owner and operator Chris Pullen last week.

"We went down to our first match" at Mark Frazee's Hooks for Books high school boxing competition, Pullen explained. "We won the plaque. We surprised them all."
