HAMDEN -- Hamden is one of the few public schools that has a
history of success against the deeply talented Catholic schools in
boys' hockey. But in the last three years, one Catholic school has
had the Green Dragons' number in the Division I state tournament.
No. 4-ranked Notre Dame-Fairfield, which traveled to Astorino
Rink on Saturday for a regular-season matchup with No. 3 Hamden,
ended the Green Dragons' season in the tournament quarterfinals in
2008 and 2007, and the Lancers defeated the them in the 2006
championship game.
Add in the fact that Notre Dame coach Marty Roos of Milford was
trying to become the first high school coach in Connecticut to reach
500 ...
