Eurozone industrial new orders plunge in November

BRUSSELS, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- The eurozone industrial new orders index plunged in November by 4.5 percent month-on-month, European Union (EU)'s statistics office Eurostat said Thursday.

The eurozone index saw a record year-on-year drop of 26.2 percent, Eurostat said. Excluding ships, railway and aerospace equipment, for which changes tend to be more volatile, industrial new orders fell by 3.4 percent in the eurozone.

Meanwhile, in the 27-nation EU, industrial new orders dropped by 3.9 percent in November and decreased by 25.4 percent compared with the same period in 2007.
