Visitors are to be charged to walk around the lake at Trentham
Gardens.
The charge - pounds5 for adults, pounds4 for pensioners and
pounds3.50 for children - comes in from late March and will cover
the mile-long lake walk and Italian Gardens.
An annual adult ticket for pounds37.50 and a family ticket for
two adults and three children costing pounds75 will also be
available.
But walkers wanting a free stroll will have to use two walks
near the monkey forest.
One visitor predicted that 90 per cent of people who walk around
the lake now would go elsewhere.
Jim Grice, aged 62, of Harpfields, who regularly walks his three
dogs around the lake, said: "I love the place and know the
