Details of 700 applicants who applied for jobs at Exeter Prison
were e-mailed in error, it has emerged.
An inquiry has been carried out into the bungle over applications
for jobs as prison officers at the facility.
The mistake occurred when staff e-mailed applicants to tell them
whether they had been considered for the post - and sent a message
which included the e-mail addresses of all those who applied.
A spokesman for Exeter Prison said staff there were not involved
in the selection process or the error, as it was conducted
centrally.
The Prison Service said it had apologised to those concerned and
had reviewed its process.
