ROCKLAND - When bad weather cancels school, most kids watch cartoons inside or bundle up to build snowmen.

The Rogers Middle School sixth-grader spent his snow day Wednesday meticulously clearing his family's driveway on Forest Street, using a tricked-out riding lawn mower..

After saving a broken-down mower from the junk pile this summer, Andrew, 11, went to work. Once the mower's spark plugs and battery were replaced, he was off cutting grass.

As the seasons changed, Andrew was inspired by his sister's boyfriend, Zach Howard, 18, who plows driveways and parking lots.
