Article: Homebuilders association celebrates new building: ; Headquarters looks like a home, not a commercial property

The Homebuilders Association of West Virginia will host a ribbon- cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. today at its new headquarters at 2220 Washington St. E.

The 2,400-square-foot building looks like a home.

"It's drop-dead gorgeous," said Beth Thomasson, the association's executive officer.

"We represent home builders, and we didn't want it to look like a commercial space," she said. "We wanted it to look like who we are. Some of our members were very insistent that that be the style we use."

The association has about 800 members, including many builders of residential housing. Others are associate members that provide products and services used in the industry. These include insurance companies ...
