Caverswall: Police are investigating after two men conned their
way into a pensioner's house.
The offenders called at a house on School Lane in Caverswall
yesterday afternoon, claiming they were from the water board.
The elderly homeowner let them in, and after they left she
discovered cash was missing.
A police spokesman said: "We received the call shortly after 3pm.
The men said that water up the road had frozen so they needed to
check the taps.
"They didn't have any identification. They messed with the taps,
then left, and the lady discovered a quantity of cash had been
stolen."
One of the men was is his 40s and dressed in black, while the
second was in his late teens with black hair.
