National Signing Day normally is filled with unbridled optimism
and lofty expectations, as was the case Wednesday at Marshall
university.
However, the Thundering Herd's 2009 recruiting class included its
share of disappointments.
Among them:
* Freddie Moore reneged on his verbal commitment and signed with
Alabama-Birmingham, which is located closer to his hometown of
Decatur, Ala.
Appropriately enough, it ended a recruiting process in which
Moore seemingly changed his mind more than an indecisive woman
perusing an extensive menu at a fancy restaurant.
Moore, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound wide receiver from Austin High
School, committed to Marshall in July but admitted having second
