Jay Hunt spoke in strident tones during a radio interview explaining the decision

THE controller of BBC1 was under fire last night after her version of events surrounding the sacking of Carol Thatcher was denied by the presenter's spokeswoman.

Jay Hunt claimed that Ms Thatcher had been reprimanded for saying "golliwog" while off air and had refused to apologise before she was dismissed.

But her agent, Ali Gunn, dismissed this version of events, saying: "They seem to have come up with a lot more evidence seven days after the incident.
