Proposed state budget has no spending cuts
Gov. Manchin says his proposed budget for next fiscal year won't
include spending cuts for state agencies.
The governor says instead of imposing cuts, he is asking
department heads to become more efficient in how they conduct the
state's business.
Manchin said Thursday he is asking agencies to increase
efficiency by 4 percent.
He says the only additional spending would go for items like
Public Employee Insurance Agency premium increases.
The governor will present his budget to lawmakers next Wednesday
when they return to Charleston to start the regular 60-day session.
Manchin's proposal will cover state spending for the fiscal year
that starts July ...
