On a cold clear day last month, Julie Blackwood and her mother, Deborah Bailey, decided to give themselves a treat. They went to Ferguson Tea Room in Hurricane. There, they sat a table covered in black and gold cloths, listened to soothing music, sipped tea and talked. The best part, though, was the three-tier tray full of assorted finger sandwiches, scones and cookies. There were egg salad and chicken salad, cucumber and dill sandwiches, lavender scones, pecan tassies and cherry tarts just to name a few. Its very relaxing, said Blackwood, a Charleston resident.
