East Yorkshire farmers have given assurances about their pig-
rearing welfare standards after a pork advert was banned.
Campaign group Compassion in World Farming complained consumers
were being misled by claims of "very high welfare" in the advert.
The British Pig Executive adverts featured in the media and on
billboards during the Pigs Are Worth It Campaign last year, which
aimed to support the industry.
Now, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has upheld the
complaint and banned the use of the advert in any future pig farming
campaigns.
Today, large-scale pig farmer Joe Dewhirst, of Yorkwold Pigpro
