DOWNTOWN
Creators of the planned National Law Enforcement Museum at
Judiciary Square announced yesterday that the recession has caused
them to strip $29 million from the $80 million project, cut its
square footage almost in half and push back its completion date two
years, from 2011 to 2013.
"These changes were necessary and fiscally prudent given the
stark economic realities we are dealing with," said Craig W. Floyd,
chairman and chief executive of the National Law Enforcement
Officers Memorial Fund, which is in charge of the project. The fund
has raised $37 million.
