SAN LEANDRO -- By all indications, San Leandro's future
population should be dominated by children, teenagers and young
adults.
After all, 8,800 students are enrolled at San Leandro's dozen
public schools. And, Association of Bay Area Government projections
show more than 3,000 homes, apartments and condominiums could be
built in San Leandro by 2030, mostly in or around downtown San
Leandro and along East 14th Street.
But that assumption would be wrong, city housing consultant Barry
Miller told the City Council and San Leandro school board, who met
jointly Monday.
Applying regional demographic predictions, San Leandro will have
