Article: N.O. casinos' January jackpot slightly more than a year ago

New Orleans' four casinos took in nearly $58.8 million in January, up about 2 percent from a year ago, according to Louisiana State Police figures.

Boomtown, Treasure Chest, Harrah's New Orleans and the Fair Grounds posted a 3.5 percent decrease from the nearly $60.9 million in December but up 1.9 percent over the $57.7 million a year ago.

All area casinos saw a drop in revenues compared with January 2008 except for the Fair Grounds slots facility, which moved into its permanent home in early November and has posted month-over- month increases since then.
