Article: Debate in Cudahy heats up over demolition of Sportsites' Iceport

Sportsites LLC is ready for a fight if Cudahy forces the company to pay for the demolition of its Iceport's steel skeleton and cement foundation.

Cudahy on Monday opened bids to demolish the rusting structure of what was to be an ice rink. The city asked contractors to submit two prices -- one for demolishing just the iron I-beam skeleton and a second, higher quote that includes demolishing the foundation.

A judge in January 2007 gave Cudahy the right to clear dangerous public nuisances from the property, but the Iceport's foundation does not qualify, said Brad Hoeschen, Sportsites' attorney with Greenberg & Hoeschen LLC, Milwaukee.
