Article: Second student attack in a week puts ISU police on alert

NORMAL - ISU police are increasing patrols in residential areas of campus after a 19-year-old undergraduate student was attacked in her apartment Thursday, one week after another student was sexually assaulted near campus.

Thursday's attack happened around 7:15 a.m. in an apartment at Cardinal Court on Gregory Street, said ISU Police Chief Ron Swan. A man entered through a bedroom window and attacked the female resident, who was alone in her apartment, causing injuries to her face, Swan said.

The woman was able to escape through the front door after a short struggle, but the suspect had fled by the time police arrived after a 911 call, police said. Police searched the area for the suspect ...
