The Panthers notched up the best team score of the season in a thrilling high-scoring match away at the Matchplay Club in Stroud.

Leading the high scores was Trevor Jones (pictured) with 93 and Debbie Long contributed 85 for a first half total of 392 pins. Opponents Matchplay Wanderers, who have not lost a home Charity League fixture since joining the league five years ago, found themselves 32 pins down at the interval.

Despite a courageous 411 pins in the second half, Brian Squibb hitting 92, they could come back.

Panthers' secretary and anchorman Fred Clifford finished with a nine, scoring 89 in total to win the second half by one pin and take all six points.
