Article: Man suffers smoke inhalation after house fire

A Man is recovering in hospital after suffering serious smoke inhalation when a fire broke out at his house.

Martin Gardner was taken to Cheltenham General Hospital during the early hours of Saturday after escaping a blaze which badly damaged his house in Church Street, Cirencester.

A spokesman for the hospital said yesterday that Mr Gardner was on a ventilator to help him breathe.

He added: "He's stable and awake and can understand what you say to him, but can't talk because of the tubes of the ventilator."

Firefighters were called to the blaze at 12.45am on Saturday. Two engines from Cirencester and one from Tetbury fire station were needed to deal with the fire, using hoses and breathing ...
