The idled City Brewing Co. plant in Latrobe has a willing buyer
who would create 120 jobs, but not a willing seller.
City Brewing rejected a bid from Castle Co-Packers Inc. of
Arnold, Westmoreland County, to buy the Latrobe brewery and use it
to bottle teas, flavored waters and energy drinks, Brian Dworkin,
president of Castle Co-Packers, said Wednesday.
"It just stalled. They don't want to sell," Dworkin said of City
Brewing's intention to hold onto the former Rolling Rock brewery it
purchased in 2006.
Dworkin said he toured the closed Latrobe brewery late last year
and went to City Brewing's LaCrosse, Wisc., headquarters as part of
his efforts to buy a plant to bottle the private label ...
