Article: Northern Ireland footballers can play for Republic, says FIFA chief ; WRITEBACK

I applaud this decision. It's what I and thousands of others from the North who support the FAI side have been waiting for, and maybe now the IFA will waken up and realise why 45% of the population of the North of Ireland remains alienated from their team and jettison the unionist flags and symbols at games.

I'm all for freedom of choice and am only sorry that greats from former eras like Jennings, O'Neill, Best and Dougan etc didn't have this option.

Tony

I don't understand why Northern Ireland fans are complaining about players being poached etc. The Northern Ireland u21s are actively trying to recruit English lads who have already played for England u19s.

Is this not poaching?
