A rapist has been told he must continue to serve his double life
sentence for one of the most brutal crimes committed in the
Westcountry.
Jakub Tomczak, 24, from Poland, raped a woman and left her
unconscious and seriously injured under a van in Redlands Close,
Whipton, Exeter, in 2006.
Tomczak's legal team tried to challenge a ruling passed by Judge
Graham Cottle at Exeter Crown Court, saying it was not valid under
Polish law, but the sentence has now been upheld by the Supreme
Court in Poland.
He is behind bars in his homeland, having been convicted by a
jury of rape and grievous bodily harm.
His lawyer, Mariusk Paplaczyk, said he is likely to appeal
against the ruling in the next few ...
