Joseph Everett Carroll Jr., 92, a retired officer with the D.C.
police department, died Feb. 12 of kidney failure at Virginia
Hospital Center in Arlington County. He was a resident of
Alexandria.
Mr. Carroll was born in Gallant Green in Charles County and
graduated from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington. During World
War II, he served with the Army in Europe, in the Philippines and at
Fort Myer. He joined the District's police force in 1947 and worked
as part of the civil disturbance squad and as a crime scene
investigator before retiring in 1973.
For years, Mr. Carroll tended a garden plot on the family farm
near Gallant Green and kept family and friends well supplied with ...
