Yakima Valley has had quicker teams during Cody Butler's six seasons as its women's basketball coach. It has had taller teams and it has had more talented teams.

But most familiar with the Yaks, including Butler himself, agree that none has had as many shooters.

And that factor, along with a 23-5 record, a 16-game winning streak and a No. 2 ranking has YVCC carrying lofty hopes into the NWAACC Tournament that runs Thursday through Sunday in Kennewick's Toyota Center.

Coach Ray Funk's defending champion Yaks will be there, too, albeit without the player who carried them a year ago.
