Article: West Side renewal group has new look, new leader: ; Chairman of neighborhood association ready to tackle challenges

As Charleston's West Side undergoes revitalization, the same thing is happening to one of the key groups involved that effort.

The West Side Neighborhood Association has plans to be more active and a new chairman to help it get there.

Ron Stoner, the pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church, was named head of the all-volunteer association in January. Since then, he has been working to appoint new board members and attract others who have a passion for the West Side.

"To be able to step in and put some heart and energy into the group excites me," Stoner said.
