Article: Man allegedly used counterfeit bills to pay for GPS unit

BRAINTREE - A Boston man trying to sell his GPS unit online ended up using the Web to track down the man who paid him in counterfeit money and turn him in to Braintree police.

Police plan to charge a 19-year-old Brockton man for allegedly buying the GPS unit with $240 in counterfeit bills.

A 27-year-old Boston man had advertised the GPS unit on Craigslist and met the Brockton man Feb. 22 at the South Shore Plaza, intending to sell it.

Police said the Brockton man, whose name wasn't released because he has yet to be charged, gave the Boston man 12 counterfeit $20 bills for payment.
